ABOUT THE CONCERT:

The acclaimed Houston Brass Band joins us for our second Masterworks concert, Brass and Bow — a stirring tribute to 200 years of Norwegian immigration to the United States and the 45-year sister city bond between Houston, Galveston, and Stavanger, Norway.

This vibrant, wide-ranging program features the world premiere of Rodney Newton’s Crossings with the Houston Brass Band, the U.S. premiere of Harald Sæverud’s Sinfonia Dolorosa, performed by the Galveston Symphony, and exhilarating works by Halvorsen and Shostakovich that unleash the full might of both ensembles united on stage.
